Family Gatherings

If you are planning to get family/friends together for a special occasion, why not rent the town hall? It is a very nice facility situated in Olive Green, in the center of our community. It can be rented by residents for a very reasonable fee. For more information see Rental of Township Hall on the Fees page of this website.

To schedule a date, please call Eddy Ambrose at 740-965-3517.

The Porter Kingston Fire District is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. There will be an open house October 12th from 12pm to 4pm. The fire house is on Olive Green Road just east of SR 656. Please click here to view attached flyer for more information.

Roads

This year we did not get a grant from the state to hard surface Moody Road south of Olive Green Road. We widened the surface and cut new ditches. We had to chip-seal the road to maintain the improvement until it is finished. We have applied for a grant for this road next year. Several roads, in need of repair, were chip-sealed this summer.

Bridge Projects

The county replaced 4 bridges last year, but none were on the list for this year. Most of our bridges are in good condition.

The Adopt-A-Roadway Program

Would your family or group like to volunteer to keep a road in Porter Township looking great?
The Adopt-A-Roadway Program is a community service opportunity sponsored by The Delaware
General Health District's Keep Delaware County Beautiful Program. The program originated in the 1980s, in Texas, when James Evans saw debris flying out of a pickup truck bed. This program allows individuals, families, local clubs, groups and organizations to adopt portions of county or township roadways in Delaware County. Adopting groups can take great pride in the fact that they are keeping our roadways clean and free of litter and that residents and visitors alike will appreciate their efforts.
The Adopt-A-Roadway Program is part of a continuing effort to educate both youth and adults and
raise community awareness about environmental issues in our county. We look forward to working with you in the near future.
For more information, Phone: 740-368-1700 ext. 2077, Email litter@rrohio.com or go to:

Website History

This website came online Tuesday, July 9, 2008. Tell your Porter Township friends the address of this website www.PorterTwp.org. This is our place to keep residents aware of improvements to roads, bridges, and any other pertinent information. Please review this and let us know what you like and dislike about the site. If you have something that you think should be on the site, let us know. I will continue to place photos on the site of the progress of the improvements and interesting pictures from our roads. This township is very historic, and I would like to include pictures of interesting and unusual houses, barns, and historic buildings. If you have something of this nature please contact me at: trustee1@portertwp.org

Thank You,
Bob Ryan
